    • Synopsis
    • To the Detective (Yo Oizumi), passing time as he always does in the old familiar bar, comes a job. The client is a younger schoolmate of the Detective’s sidekick Takada (Ryuhei Matsuda) named Harada. His girlfriend Reiko (Atsuko Maeda) has suddenly vanished. As much to kill time as anything else, the Detective agrees to keep an eye out for her, and learns that she is both registered as a model with an agency called ‘Pure Heart’, and is working part-time at a certain less-than-reputable establishment. Passing Mari Misaki (Keiko Kitagawa), the beautiful owner of the establishment, he has the feeling he has seen her before.

Soon after this, Mari appears before the Detective and Takada, accompanied by two brawny young men. She has learned that they have been sniffing around her establishment, and now they are beaten black and blue. While Takada has always been unbeatable in a fight, this time a youth named Haru defeats him easily, complicating the situation a great deal. Undeterred, though, the Detective continues his investigation, enlisting the aid of such old friends as the yakuza mobster Aida and the journalist Matsuo. He learns that pulling the strings behind Pure Heart is the shadowy figure of Kitajo (Lily Franky), whose Kitajo Group is one of the leading business conglomerates in the city of Sapporo. Mari is Kitajo’s girlfriend.

Now the Detective remembers where he first encountered Mari. Monroe, a former prostitute he has known for years, once took care of a trembling young woman on the point of collapse. ‘Her? Was that Mari?’

Cautious though he is, the Detective still falls into a clever trap laid by Mari, and the sadistic torture of Kitajo leaves him literally half-dead. But along with Takada he manages to escape and recover. But now Kitajo has Mari in his sights, and she comes to him with a request that is both desperate and sad. The Detective realizes that he and Takada are coming to a parting of ways.
