The Island is a story about love and pain, separation and fear. It is a fictional story based on true events and conditions regarding the island of Spinalonga in Crete, which place on the island of Spinalonga, during its years as a leper colony.

    • This TV series is based on the worldwide, best-selling novel “The Island” (To Nisi in Greek) written by the British writer and journalist Victoria Hislop, whose patent love for the island of Crete and her engaging writing has captured the hearts of readers in more than 17 countries.
      Shot on the island of Crete over a two year period, this 26 episode series brought Indigo View's professional and creative expertise to the forefront of Greek television programming. Indigo View Director Theo Papadoulakis worked closely with his team of Crete based Producers to create an original series that regularly earned national viewing figures of over 70%.
      Indigo View managed this production from start to finish, employing technicians and crew as well as supplying camera equipment and post-production facilities. We built two large Film Sets in the seaside villages of Elounda and Plaka and auditioned more than 2000 actors and extras. To complete this package we also provided transportation, accommodation and catering facilities for 400 cast and crew members.
