    • Synopsis
    • The liberal nationalist leader Cipriano Castro seized power in Venezuela in 1899; during his tenure he refuses to yield to the pressures of regional caudillos, bankers, transnational corporations and creditors of the Foreign Debt, for which he faces a fleet of 15 battleships from England, Germany and Italy blocking and shelling the coasts for collections of public debt. Defeat an army of 15,000 men led by regional caudillos and foreign creditors; defies the transnationals of six empires and is defeated only by disease and betrayal.
