- The 1900s. Kyiv is in its heyday. Several buildings are being erected in the city, designed by the fashionable architect Władysław Horodecki. Kyiv's beau monde adores Mr. Horodecki for his daring Europeanism: he designs fancy houses, drives the first car in Kyiv, has an exotic monkey as a pet, is not afraid to break any taboos, and his talent and charisma fascinate women.
  Horodecki's career is on the rise, but a worker suddenly dies in an accident at the construction site of a Catholic church, Władysław's star project. His death looks like a suicide, but the investigation reveals the truth: it was a carefully planned murder. And Horodecki himself becomes the suspect.
  The investigation is headed by a police officer who would be very happy if the theory that the architect Horodecki is the murderer proves to be true...
  Will Władysław be able to resist intrigues and find the real murderer on his own?
