Film I. Kursk Bulge. Citadel Film II. Operation Polkovodets Rumyantsev After the defeat of the Wehrmacht troops at Stalingrad, Adolf Hitler craved revenge. He thought that "Kursk Bulge" would be the most suitable place for the defeat of the Red Army. In early April 1943 the command of the armed forces of the Third Reich began to thoroughly prepare a strategic offensive operation, code-named "Citadel." Troops of the Central Front under the command of Colonel-General Konstantin Rokossovsky and Voronezh Front under General of the Army Nikolai Vatutin were attacked by 2000 airplanes and 2700 enemy tanks. In mid-July 1943, the second phase of the gigantic battle began in Kursk. The Soviet military began the operation under the code name "Rumyantsev." Wehrmacht lost 30 selected divisions in the Battle of Kursk. Our two-part film tells the complete story of the battle that predetermined the outcome of the most terrible war of the 20th.
