    • Synopsis
    • On Christmas Eve a family of four, Irene (45), Oscar (50), Ana (11) and Juan (7), finds gifts under the Christmas tree for each one of them that nobody placed there. As a precaution, they decide to remove them all except Juan’s - by the look of it: a bicycle.
The family shares dinner with the next door neighbor, Susana, her son and her mother. As the gifts are being placed under the tree, the neighbor realizes she has forgotten hers so she goes home to get them but never returns.
Midnight strikes and the kids rush into the gifts. Juan opens his, discovers a bicycle and his enthusiasm simmers down instantly. He becomes completely alienated. He only talks to express, with a grim temperance, his wish to go outside and ride the bike. Irene and Oscar, aware of his shifting mood, don’t allow it.
A gunshot hits the house and they sight Susana out in the street, in a similar alienated state, shooting at them with a rifle. Owing to the terrifying situation, the family blocks all entries and windows, locking themselves inside with the remaining gifts.
Outside, chaos reigns. Shouting, explosions and people running. What they thought to be an isolated event, it was actually being replicated beyond the neighborhood.
Oscar’s a M.D., so he tries to understand the reason of his son’s behavior but the usual medical procedures he approaches become useless. He decides to engage in alternative techniques that reveal an obscured past, swept aside by the family.
Finally, they reach to the conclusion that the opened gifts will materialize and free the deepest desires of those who open them - some naive and bright, others dark and mysterious. In all cases, fatally liberating.
The gifts continue to be set aside; their sole presence brings tension to those secluded in the house, and throughout the night every deep secret starts to unfold. As if they were a curse the gifts keep coming back, avoiding all attempts to get rid of them.

The dawn will bring along what remains of both families.
