    • Synopsis
    • It’s 1954, and America is a land
of prosperity and possibility. Families are growing, business
is booming, and kids spend their nights listening to Rock & Roll and hanging out at drive-ins. Ray Kroc (Keaton) is selling milkshake mixers door-to-door to restaurants around the country. It’s one of many ventures Ray has undertaken in his relentless pursuit of the American Dream. It is hard and often thankless work, but Ray clings to the notion of survival of the fittest even as success continues to evade him. Then he gets a huge order from two brothers named McDonald in southern California and everything changes.

Kroc has to see for himself what kind of operation could possibly serve that many milkshakes.
He takes a trip down Route 66 only to find a vision in the desert: a small drive-in restaurant sitting under a large golden arch, teaming with customers. This is not like other drive-in restaurants. There are no carhops - you stand in line and carry the food out yourself. The menu is simple and delicious - the best burger he’s ever had.

And the speed! He gets his order in 30 seconds, not 30 minutes, delivered in a paper bag. No plates, no glass, no mess. The customers are nothing but decent, wholesome-looking folks.

Everywhere he looks he sees families. And he sees the future.

But you can’t sell a billion burgers without making a few enemies, and Ray’s path to becoming the founder of the biggest restaurant chain the world has ever known is not without its own cost. This is a movie about ambition, persistence and the price of success.

The Founder is poised to be one of the most captivating stories of 2016.
