    • Synopsis
    • La orquesta extraterrestre" is based on the short novel of the same name written by Harkaitz Cano. The name itself gives us a clue as to what the story is about: it is about an earthly orchestra, although its members sometimes look (and behave!) like aliens. It is also the story of the protagonist, Manu, whose dream is to start an orchestra. A rather earthly desire. However, the main difficulty lies in finding musicians to form an orchestra that actually sounds like an orchestra and gives concerts. The maestros that Manu finally manages to convince to join his project have, shall we say, a rather peculiar idiosyncrasy. Although they are all prodigies with their respective instruments, each has a flaw.
The plot chronicles the creation and early life of the orchestra, with its first concerts and a treacherous voyage aboard an ocean liner that ends up shipwrecked. The story then traces the characters' rise to fame in the United States and follows their careers until their final break-up.

The Alien Orchestra" is a story about companionship, teamwork, friendship, creativity and the search for one's true vocation. It exalts all that is different, all that is not hegemonic, in an environment where imagination and the sui generis perspective through which the characters see the world and face their problems as a means to survive and find happiness prevail. An amusing and entertaining story, yes, but in no way complacent: imagination is the key that provides the characters with the necessary resources to face the less charming side of life, such as the fear of failure, one's own limitations or the inevitable death of loved ones that, sooner or later, we all have to face. The story explores, tells, cries and laughs about issues that affect everyone.
