    • The Emigrants is the story of Kristina Nilsson, a mother who leaves a poverty-stricken Sweden with her family in the 1850s and sets out on a long, dangerous journey, hoping to find a better life for herself and her children in America. The film is based on Vilhelm Moberg’s much- loved suite of novels The Emigrants, and the story is now being told on film for the first time from Kristina’s perspective.

From internationally acclaimed director, Erik Poppe comes epic period drama, THE EMIGRANTS. The film stars Lisa Carlehed (The Tunnel, 2019) and Gustav Skarsgård (Vikings, 2020) in the lead.

Further cast include international pop-star Tove Lo and Sofia Helin (The Bridge, 2018). The film is based on Vilhelm Moberg’s much loved and best selling suite of novels which was successfully adapted by Jan Troell in 1971 into a film which was nominated for five Academy Awards and won two Golden Globes. THE EMIGRANTS is now being brought to the screen again by Erik Poppe and stands out as yet a timeless classic, exploring how far we are willing to go to save our children and achieve our dreams.
