    • Synopsis
    • Betty, is a 12-year-old girl who lives with her parents, both Pentecostal religious fanatics. Betty leads a double life in front of her parents. She follows their strict guidelines, but behind their backs, she escapes this restrictive and austere environment through drawings of her doll, Olivia in the style of anime. With her father’s return from a religious mission, things turn even more abusive in her home. Desperate, Betty escapes from her home.

Meanwhile, Betty's drawings transform into an animation. Olivia disappears from the drawings instead, she appears in the animations.

Initially, Betty is able to take refuge in her friend Carla’s house until her mother, Antonia unexpectedly arrives at Carla’s house looking for her. Upon hearing her mother’s voice she escapes before she can be discovered. Scared Betty confronts the streets alone with Olivia her doll. The streets become even more threatening when she is harassed by some strange men. Scared, defeated and with a sliver of hope that things will be better, she returns home.

Back in the animated world, Olivia, her alter ego, adventures quickly turn dark. Olivia is hurt, and she dies out of her body and emerges Livia, a Hupia, a Taino spirit.

It isn’t long after she is home that the abuse becomes unbearable; now, she is even more isolated. Betty escapes to protect her integrity this time she takes refuge in the rainforest and caves.
