The story follows David, a lean 25-year-old, equally fond of sleep, drugs and masturbation. A perpetual student, he loafs around in his father’s holiday home a sleepy seaside resort called ‘La Perrera’ among its off-season residents, which include nearly as many dogs as men and where no one wants to work. His father, a pragmatic businessman who been paying for David's education, the pursuit of which he considers a waste of time strikes a deal with him: David can stay and study for his exams in the house so long as he builds a house for himself. And so, a year-long adventure starts for David. As the house very slowly takes on it’s rather rickety shape David comes to see the wisdom of dad's dictum ‘trabajo e salud’.
