    • Synopsis
    • A bitter Central European comedy
Principal Cast: Sylvia Suvadova (Oscar winning film "Kolya"), Marek Matoušek ("Half Moon") & Brian Caspe ("Hellboy")
A found footage mockumentary from the writer of "Kajínek" & "Medieval" and director of "Choking Hazard"
A story about friendship, taking action, about the conflict between personal happiness vs. a higher calling, and the desire to make an impact on the world around us at least once in a lifetime.
An answer to the question of the mindset of Central Europe and why it is so different from its western counterpart.
As with everything else in terms of understanding Central Europe today, we have to go back in time. A classic joke says "Czech history is essentially the history of the redistribution of possessions." Let us add that, unfortunately, it has often been its export. At the end of World War II, Adolf Hitler, in an order called "Lands in Pflamen," ordered his soldiers to hide the spoils of war. These were mainly art and other artifacts stolen in occupied Europe, and important international documents of the Third Reich. Historians and treasure hunters have already found much of it. And yet many more have not been found.
A group of three friends begins to explore the site of a Premonstratensian monastery on the outskirts of Prague, which is to be returned to the Catholic Church as part of ecclesiastical restitution. They hope to find something of value. Art objects hidden by the Nazis before they were driven out of Prague. If the building now belongs to the Catholic Church, anything in it the Vatican would rightfully keep. Ecclesiastical restitution is imminent and time is running out to do national justice. Our heroes decide to take direct action - to steal back the stolen property in order to return it all to the Czech state.
Their patriotic efforts - backed by the fact that 10% of the price of a discovery always goes to its discoverer - leads them to video their efforts. This will also be the only tangible evidence that will be left after their disappearance. All three vanish without a trace.
Petra, the young daughter of one of them, contacts an aspiring documentary filmmaker. She asks him to go through the hours of footage that was shot and edit it into a feature-length documentary. She believes the resulting film will help shed light on the circumstances of her father's disappearance.
She wants to understand the family's path. She seeks meaning in what her father believed to be important. This despite the fact that she and her father never had an idyllic relationship. As an 18-year-old lesbian painter, she was raised by a single parent after the death of her mother. The standard bedtime story for her was the novel "Currahee!: A Screaming Eagle at Normandy". Not surprisingly, their interactions were never ideal. Now, on her 18th birthday, her father disappeared. All that's left is a police warrant for his arrest and hours of filmed footage.
