- Synopsis
- The Demons Within is a supernatural take on very real issues for young adults today. Izzy Wagner is tormented by voices that only she can hear which comes to a boiling point when her self destructive behavior is heightened after meeting with a spiritual therapist, which seems to invoke darkness that will prey on the already depressed Izzy. As she is consumed by the evil slowly taking over her body and soul she withdraws from those who love her. Her downward spiral into the depths of mental illness (represented by demonic possession) effects everyone around her. Her absent parents and enabling boyfriend must take action. The kind priest, the only person to listen to Izzy's struggles must realize he is her only hope. This story is a surface paranormal tale with many layers focused on mental health, toxic relationships, co-dependency, and more and is a self exploration of the mental health issues the director and lead actress both struggle with and research done by the writer.
