    • Synopsis
    • Lucas and Antonia live together in a modest flat in the city centre. Lucas is looking for work, but the job doesn't find him. The exclusionary selection system makes it difficult for Lucas to access the labour market due to his age and lack of education. Antonia's pension is barely enough to make ends meet. Despite this, they face each day with affection, enthusiasm and a sense of humour.
Antonia suffers from respiratory insufficiency and needs daily treatment in an outpatient clinic. Lucas takes care of Antonia's nursing needs while he looks for work.
The affection and respect they feel for each other helps them to live happily together despite their circumstances.
The process of gentrification of the city centre forces them to leave the house they have lived in all their lives. An investment fund has bought the building to convert the flats into tourist flats.
During one of his visits to the health centre, Lucas steals a defibrillator in order to sell it and pay for the basic expenses. This desperate act has a fatal outcome for the life of a child. Lucas is arrested and sent to prison, where he awaits trial.
In his internment, Lucas is torn between the need to care for Antonia due to her dependency and the absolute guilt of the child's death. In prison, Lucas shares a cell with Sebas, who helps him to accept and endure his new situation.
In his need to escape from prison, Lucas injures himself and is hospitalised, where he meets Mara, a nurse who will help him recover physically and emotionally. A
special bond of affection develops between the two of them. Lucas escapes from the hospital to try to pay off his financial debt to the bank and his moral debt to Gabriela, the mother of the deceased boy.
Necessity and guilt lead Lucas into a flight forward that is difficult to return to.
