    • Synopsis
    • 'Bhera (THE DEAF)' unfolds amidst the Covid-19 pandemic in June 2020, in a secluded village in Lower Konkan. Anibai, living alone, anxiously awaits her son, Suresh, stranded in Mumbai. Afflicted with appendicitis, her sole connection to the outside world is Vishnu, a deaf-mute orphan yearning for affection and freedom from his oppressive household.
      Suresh manages to return home, only to be quarantined for 14 days by the village sarpanch, leaving Anibai torn between her maternal instincts and fear of infection. Unaware of the severity of the pandemic, Anibai and Vishnu embark on a perilous journey to reunite with Suresh.
      While Anibai undergoes surgery, Vishnu, driven by love and loyalty, enters quarantine unlawfully, resulting in his banishment from the village. Alone and distraught, Vishnu returns to Anibai's home, unaware of her whereabouts or Suresh's demise. When the sarpanch delivers Suresh's remains, Vishnu's world crumbles, realizing he's lost his dear friend forever. The poignant tale explores the resilience of human bonds amidst adversity and the harsh realities faced by marginalized communities during the pandemic.
