    • Synopsis
    • Seven-year-old Hugo’s surname may be "Christmas," but his family seems indifferent to the holiday. In fact, Christmas is always practically over before it even begins in the Christmas household. As soon as New Year's is over, Dad Niels returns to his work as a science teacher, Mom Agnes gets back to her police work, and the kids Hugo, Alfred and Vega all go back to school. But this year, something is different… Hugo makes a startling discovery: an elf named Pixy is hiding in the house. Pixy is a great fan of Christmas and thought that if there’s a family called "Christmas," then Christmas must last all year! Hugo, Alfred and Vega become friends with Pixy, and try to hide him from their parents. But the mischievous elf with magical skills is a major challenge, since he likes to play tricks on people. And even if he can make himself invisible, he is discovered more than once. When the summer arrives, the Christmas kids smuggle Pixy along with them on their annual camping holiday. They disguise Pixy, but the elf – who can’t stand the summer heat – nearly dies when he loses his pixy bag with magical snow. The trouble really starts when a camper calls the police. Now it's Dad’s turn for some much-needed magic, tolerance and year-long Christmas spirit.

Oscar-nominated (short film) producer Thomas Lydholm delivers an enchanting Christmas movie for the entire family. Starring as Hugo is Pelle Krusbæk, who began his career in Thomas Vinterberg's Oscar-nominated "The Hunt" and followed this up with the lead role in the Oscar-winning live-action short "Helium." With its plea for
tolerance, friendship and team spirit, "The Christmas Family" shows how an open mind and a bit of magic can restore the cheer of more than just the holiday season!
