A true story, ‘The Boy From Baby House 10' is from a place that time has all but forgotten. Russia - post-communist, pre-Putin, a dangerous and exciting decade full of possibility, opportunity, democracy; but also a time of hope and hopelessness, confidence and confusion.
Against this backdrop and the legacy of communism, six year old, Vanya - seemingly incurable, abandoned, a ‘cretin’, consigned to oblivion in baby houses and asylums - stood tall, selfless, spirited, instinctively refusing to be defined by his plight; not knowing, all the while, that 3 women - a Russian, Brit and American - were on a collision course of discovery, intrigue, heartache and adventure, that would lead to new beginnings for a boy with no future.
Tragedy, hope and humour entwined, set amidst the colour and contradictions of 1990s Moscow: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”
