- Synopsis
- Inside an old warehouse on the outskirts of Palermo, a group of people crush a man's arm with a trolley full of gym weights. This is the modus operandi of an improvised criminal organization that, after mutilating the limbs of consenting victims, simulates fake accidents to collect large insurance prices, of which only a small part goes to the victims. Vincenzo recruits them from the miserable people who live in the streets of the city, the same streets in which Luisa, a frail and beautiful 25-years-old girl, usually scores crack. Luisa is tormented, and an incurable conflict causes her to flee from the community where she’s staying, and and finding shelter with Vincenzo, whom she has known for years. Luisa feels protected with him, and she gradually falls in love with him. But Vincenzo's money problems are exacerbated when, due to a series of mistakes, he finds himself on the bad side of the criminal organization and, pushed by his elderly mother, finds in Luisa his only chance: he convinces her to have her bones broken. From that moment, Luisa begins her personal Way of the Cross: she feels betrayed by Vincenzo, and alternates anger with despair. But she won’t be the only one to suffer for this miserable story, which will also involve another person she cares a lot for, and which will throw her into the deepest despair.
