    • Synopsis
    • In the midst of the Second World War, while the Third Reich was securing victory after victory, a German filmmaker and his team embarked on an unusual project: they decided to shoot a documentary about the life of the Basque people.
The film was lost at the end of the war and its director fell into obscurity... until half a century later the only remaining copy of "Imlande der Basken" (“In the land of the Basques”) was discovered; this enigmatic documentary shows the Basque region from the perspective of Nazi racial ideals and is connected to possible Nazi attempts to establish an alliance with the Basque nationalist movement and representatives from other ethnicities with a view to establishing a new territorial order in Europe.
70 years later, the events and protagonists of this dark story come to light thanks to the testimony of their children, the discovery of previously-unseen documents, and the memory of surviving witnesses from an era in which Nazi domination stretched from the Volga all the way to the Bidasoa.
