    • Synopsis
    • China is a mystery to Western eyes. There is no easy way to understand this giant given the barriers of language, customs and history - full of political and economic upheavals. In this documentary, award-winning Brazilian journalist Jayme Martins and his family help us understand China like never before. With testimonies and images of important historical and sentimental value, the Martins family reports their unique experiences in a period of rare access to foreigners in Chinese territory. The documentary reveals what it was like to live in Communist China after the 1960s, to witness Mao Zedong's Cultural Revolution and the Tiananmen Square massacre, to experience on a daily basis the economic reform that led to the economic superpower. Seventy years after the Communist Revolution and 30 years after the Tiananmen Square massacre, the also award-winning Director Marcelo Machado delves into the memories of Jayme Martins and travels to China, where he also has affective connections.
