    • Synopsis
    • The kingdom of France, 1550, in Brittany .
Philibert, a strapping young man in his twenties is different from the other men in the village. The idealistic and ingenuous eldest son of an artichoke farmer, he envisions a glorious future for himself growing artichokes. And he is preserving his virginity for a young woman he has yet to meet: the woman God chose for him. Before passing away, his father confesses he is not his real father. His real father was a nobleman named Fulgence Bérendourt de Saint-Avoise, killed in a dastardly manner by someone from Burgundy with a rose-shaped birthmark on his neck. With no more than his ideals and a sack of artichokes, Philibert leaves his village and gallops off to Burgundy with his dishonest servant, Martin.
Philibert’s courage, his charity, his physical and moral purity will be put to the test by the underhanded ruthlessness of our villains and the wiles of a host of lustful women.
