- Synopsis
- Since her early childhood, Liana used to critically wonder about almost every aspect of the society around her. Growing up in the suburbs of Aleppo, she had a lot of friends in her age group, and she used to play around with them in the neighborhood, boys and girls. One day, she and her closest friend Ahmad, went to the local playground with some members of their families. They went straight to their favorite, the swings. And as they were about to jump on the swings, her uncle called for her anxiously: "Liana! Stop!". Liana startled and turned around to see her uncle approaching her, frowning. He held her from her arm and walked her back to the bench where her parents were sitting. Liana on the verge of tears, looked at her uncle and her parents demanding an explanation. Her mother came closer to her and whispered: "You are not a child anymore darling, you're a grown girl now! And the swings are for boys."
