    • Synopsis
    • Migs and Nat’s marriage has been rocky in the past years. He is 10 years older than her. One night, when Nat came out to party with her friends, Miguel decided that it's already enough. She is no longer the woman he met 20 years ago. The two had a big fight that led Miguel leaving Nat alone in Manila.

Miguel hops on a bus that rainy night on the way to his hometown up north, in Tuguegarao. There he was greeted by his kids, Angelo and Tina who have been in the care of his older sister Nancy. This arrangement was agreed by Nat and Miguel so she can go back to work as a graphic artist. Miguel gave Nat what she wanted but as the years go by, Nat became more and more liberated, sometimes to the point that Miguel felt like she doesn't have a husband and kids.

Miguel went back to the province for a fresh start. He took on a job as a teacher for the deaf and mute at a local high school. There he met this farmer boy who doesn't even know how to do sign language. He cajoled the boy's mother to let him in the class as this will be very helpful for his future.

As Miguel is starting what seems to be a new life amidst the beauty and vastness of Cagayan Valley and rivers, he finds himself reminded of all the reasons why he married Nat in the first place--his family's relentless stories about how modern a woman Nat is as a wife and a mother and how Miguel has failed in so many ways to recognize that he married a younger woman who has different values, let alone a deaf woman who has to fight for her dreams everyday. Migs needs to come into terms with their marriage problems as he is reminded of all the ups and downs of their relationship, piece by piece, day by day, including the traumatic miscarriage of their first baby.

Nat has been trying to communicate with Miguel but he has not decided yet on how to deal with her and the woman that she has become. She used to be an all-abiding wife but a decade after she's become demanding of her own freedom to choose what she thought is good for her, like deciding on becoming a working mom and reclaiming her lost youth with regular meet-ups and partying with other deaf and mute friends.

During the Afi Festival of Fire, Nat finally asked Miguel if there is no hope for them. Miguel was not able to answer, nor make a sound.

On Christmas Eve, the kids were so excited that finally, Miguel said yes to spending Christmas as a family. Migs was trying to send Nat a message asking her if they could talk. But it was all too late, Miguel is left to finally tell her everything he wants to say to Nat when she is already gone.

We will all witness how to live this life where words can't be heard.
