- Synopsis
- A year after her husband’s unexpected death, prep-school headmistress Kate Patterson is coping the best she can, busying herself with work and trying to stay positive. When she discovers her husband secretly owned a house on the island of Islay in Scotland, she decides to make the trip from America to visit the property before scattering his ashes in a ceremony attended by all her friends and family.
  
  But after she arrives on Islay, Kate is horrified to discover her husband not only had another home... he had another wife: the free-spirited, whisky-loving Miriam! The women immediately clash. Miriam can’t understand why Kate wants to scatter their husband’s ashes as opposed to burying him in her family's plot on Islay, but Kate refuses to change her plans. Miriam finally convinces Kate to let her tag along as they road trip across the country to reach the golf course where the ceremony is set to take place.
  
  Together, Kate and Miriam end up on a whirlwind adventure sampling amazing whiskies, playing golf, exploring castles, reenacting historic battles, getting way too drunk, waking up in strange places, having flings (both Highland and romantic), and experiencing a whole host of other things they thought they were too old for.
  
  Will Kate finally be able to let go and begin to savor life, or will Miriam drive her to the breaking point?
