At 8 years old, Tala is not allowed to go outside: violence can erupt at any time. Her only link with the world is television. Then, the new regime bans televisions. Tala’s father duly throws out the family set, but wily Tala steals another television and keeps it in secret, and the results are disastrous. Director Murad Abu Eisheh maintains a balance between the child’s innocent view of the world and the daily cruelty of the war outside her home, showing how an oppressive regime poisons even children’s lives.
