- Synopsis
- Lena is the only girl in the house, but this is not the only difference between her and her four
  brothers. The boys like to follow their mother down to the river, where she makes clay pots
  along with local laundresses who wash the farm’s clothes and dishes by the riverbank. The
  boys play and chase the animals. Lena does not like that. She likes to play inside, always alone,
  windows shut, away from the sun.
  On the farm, they expect the visit from Seu Deraldo, a farmer who lives in town and who
  comes to the property now and then. This time the visit spares more emotion than the
  previous ones, for Seu Deraldo is not coming by himself.
  Everyone knows it. Everyone can feel it.
