    • Synopsis
    • Saturday, January 1st, 2003. While Brazil celebrates the historic inauguration of President Lula, a barbecue washed down with champagne gathers together two families of Rio Grande do Sul’s hinterlands Gaucho whose masks are about to fall. From the mother-in-law who returns to the old manor house to fantasizing about her own past to the maid's daughter whose origins are never discussed. From the father who is suspicious of his son's homosexuality to the girl who seduces her stepmother’s tennis coach. The day goes on until a storm causes a blackout. The darkness comes to give birth to the characters’ discoveries.
