- Synopsis
- Sujod is a warrior from a tribe called the Dier’s which is high in the Mountains of central Africa. During a hunting party, Sujod and his young warriors help out a group of young people from an attack from Mandingo warriors. After they scare them off Sujod and his warriors escort them back to their tribe. Sujod takes a liking to one of the girls called, Sente.
  
  Sente and her brother Mali introduce Sujod and his men to their father, Kentu, who is an elder in the Susu tribe. Kentu has never met anyone from the Dier tribe and has only heard stories about the mystical tribe.
  Sujod and Sente fall in love and Sujod ask Kentu for his blessing. Kentu is elated as is Sente and they venture to where Sujod lives. They are amazed at what they see and are astonished by their mystical powers and civilization.
  
  The two marry and Sente travels back with her family to gather her belongings. While back at her village, slavesters raid and capture a majority of the people including Sente. Mali alerts Sujod of what has happened. Sujod and his warriors attack the shipping vessels killing all the men. However, the ship Sente was on already left.
  
  Sujod is distraught and decides to get captured when the next shipping vessel comes in to gather up slaves. Sujod allows himself to be captured and heads to America to find his wife. Sujod witnesses the horror of slavery never allowing himself to ever be harmed, though helping others when he can. Sujod is a master at escaping and is one with nature and animals which gives him an advantage over most people.
  
  Sujod learns how to play the horrible game in order to gather information leading to his wife’s whereabouts. Sujod becomes a slave at two different plantations. When unable to find his wife, he cleverly escapes and ends up at another. At a third plantation, Sujod becomes friends with a slave called Nat Turner. Nat teaches him about slavery in the Americas. Sujod is horrified by what he learns and sees. Nat has information about Sente and learns she’s on a plantation that the master has sold slaves to a man going out west. Nat asks Sujod for help on his revolt. Sujod agrees to help them escape but is unwilling to kill innocent people.
  
  As a warrior, Sujod only kills when provoked and has ways of defending himself or attacking when need be. Sujod helps them escape but the men are so angry about what they have endured start killing randomly.
  All the men are captured or killed except Sujod. Though Sujod was surrounded and attacked by thirteen me while in an old wooden, he
  Became the warrior that is feared in Africa.
  
  Sujod goes on to find Sente and realizes the slave caravan she was traveling on got attacked by Seminole Indians. Sujod tracks down the Seminoles and reunites with Sente and their child. Sujod and Sente stay with the Seminoles. His wisdom and warrior skills help the Seminoles.
