Baikal lake is 25 million years old. Mankind is ten times younger. And just in the last two centuries we were able to measure it and comprehend it. It became clear that it is a true miracle - living, powerful, wild, priceless. The whole world knows Baikal to be the cleanest, deepest, most beautiful lake on the planet. People are sure that it had always been like this, and it always will. Baikal is the property of our country, an object of world heritage recognized by UNESCO. But in recent years, there are more and more talks about the fact that Baikal is brewing an ecological catastrophe. Its shores and shallows are overgrown with algae, spirogyra, which was never seen in Baikal before. The authors of the film went for a large expedition along the Baikal on the research vessel of the Limnological Institute to understand whether the situation is really critical, what caused the ecological disaster and how we can help the great lake.
