    • Synopsis
    • 2194 AD. The Gamilons, an enemy of undetermined form, have suddenly appeared in the vicinity of Mars, and are showering the Earth with planetary bombs. The beautiful blue Earth is polluted with radiation, and its inhabitants are in imminent danger of being wiped out. Humanity has fled underground, and while they struggle to survive and to resist the Gamilons, they have little hope for the future, and await the day of their final destruction. Five years later, in 2199, information on equipment that will remove the radiation arrives from 148,000 light years away, on the planet of Iscandar. Also from Iscandar comes the technology behind a "wave-motion engine" and with this in place humanity's last card, the Space Battleship Yamato, sets out for the distant planet to bring back the radiation-cleansing equipment. Humankind has only a year left to live; will the YAMATO make it back in time?
