    • Synopsis
    • Krassi, Mila and Plamen are three anti-heroes in the nightmare medical system of Bulgaria. Despite the daily onslaught of broken bones and broken system, they keep on doing what they do best: saving lives.
Sofia’s Last Ambulance focuses on Dr Krassi, nurse Mila and driver Plamen who work on one of Sofia’s ambulances. Together, they fight with hospitals who reject their patients, with drivers who refuse to give way, and with the fact that far too often they arrive tragically late. Why do they arrive late? Cases inevitably pile up, as with that little pay, no one is left to be sent out.
Our team’s weapon against their critical situation is humour, dirty jokes and their friendship. Yet, every now and then, when the absurdities pile up even they loose their faith...
Sofia’s Last Ambulance is entirely set in and around the ambulance. We use the ambulance as a microcosm of contemporary Sofia. Furthermore, we want our viewer to truthfully experience the various facets and intensity of our protagonists’ everyday. The film’s narrative evolves, as we get closer to them, their relationship and way of thinking. In the process of Sofia’s Last Ambulance the view on our heroes will change. Despite their altruistic actions, we will increasingly question their morals, they will doubt the purpose of their endeavors and consider quitting. The climax of the film will be when we see them regain their love for their profession.
