- Synopsis
- Texas, 2014. Trapped in a loving marriage and successful career as the lead dub actor on a hit anime series, Brandon Greengrass drunkenly teeters between a discontented midlife crisis and self-sabotage. Distressed by his wife’s desire for a child, he finds the perfect opportunity for destruction in his celebrity attendance at Lazer Con. Raised in foster care and beset by anger issues, 23-year-old Natalie Ishida has found her footing as the creator of the popular anime-fanfic webseries “Slaughterlily”, alongside her friend and co-star, Luke. Having first met in a class for volatile teens, Luke views himself as co-creator. But when he makes unwanted sexual overtures, Natalie slates his series character for death. Enraged, Luke plots to humiliate Natalie at the same anime convention. Through a series of poor and immature choices Lazer Con is splattered in blood and the three simultaneously destroy their personal and professional lives with consequences for more than themselves.
