- Synopsis
- A woman's murdered corpse is discovered, cruelly mutilated, with one part of her body torn out. There have been other bizarre crimes of the same nature recently; she is the third victim.
  
  Kanzaki, a detective working on this unusual case, is about to get married. On that day, which should be the happiest of his life, an inconceivable tragedy occurs. Mina, his bride-to-be, becomes the fourth victim of the serial killer, in exactly the same fashion as the others.
  
  Not realizing she is dead, Mina stands before 'The Gate of Rage'. Given three alternatives by Izuko, Guardian of the Gate, she returns to this world to trace out her memories.
  
  In the morgue, she sees her own corpse and Kanzaki, mad with grief. Taken off the investigation, he vows revenge. Izuko, however, has told Mina that a person who kills another will go to Hell, and to stop Kanzaki she begins to think about killing the criminal herself with a curse. At that point, her eye lights on a photograph of Tatsuya Kudo, a world-renowned geneticist. Fragments of memory come in flashbacks: 'Is this the person who killed me?'
  
  Mina goes to investigate Kudo, and meets Maya, another victim. 'We were both once Izuko,' Maya tells her, and Mina comes closer to the truth about her death.
  
  What does fate hold for Mina and Kanzaki? And what is Tatsuya Kudo trying to do?
