    • Single mother Manami and her daughter Emily moved back to Niseko after suffering domestic violence from her ex-husband. Manami had no connections and no one to rely on. The only thing that kept her alive was her daughter Emily.
Although 11 year old Emily, was aware that her mother had struggled from domestic violence from her father Colin, to Emily he was a very nice father. Emily was in between her mother and her father not being able to express how she felt.
On day, Emily plays ball on her own and the ball rolls into a shed. She quietly goes inside to get her ball where she found tons of toy minicars and a scary looking man Tetsuji. Tetsuji has developmental disorders and although he is a professional minicar artisan, he was not comfortable when communicating with people.
Emily becomes fond of Tetsuji and her thoughts for her father and Tetsuji overlapps. She enters a shop and shoplifts some paint which she felt was perfect for Tetsuji’s minicar. Manami finds out and she scolds and yells at Emily with all the anger and frustration that she had held inside herself. Manami ends up abusing her child with violence which she had promised herself not to do, as she had experienced the same back in her childhood.
