    • Synopsis
    • Silver Darlings is to be a feature film based on the novel of the same name by author Neil Gunn. It tells the story of a community’s struggle to adapt to a new way of life; one dependent on the sea as opposed to the land, with a new horizon of opportunity taking the form of Herring Fisheries, following the demise of the crofting culture post-Highland Clearances. The story also looks at the relationship between a widow, Catrine, whose husband is lost at sea and fights to have her son, Finn, avoid the same fate. The relationship that forms between Catrine and a fishing boat captain, Roddie, however makes it increasingly difficult for Catrine to deter Finn from the draw of the ocean.
