    • Synopsis
    • Detective Max Rockinsky suffers a terrible setback when Jonathan “the Duke”
Mardukas, his key witness against mafia boss Joe Benuso, is shot in the head
on the eve of his testimony.
Benuso wants his former accountant dead, and his killers nearly succeeded – but the Duke’s not dead yet. If Max can keep him alive, there’s still a chance to take Benuso down. With the dying Duke in the backseat, Max races to the only safe place he can think of: the hospital where his ex-wife Patricia works as a nurse. When Max gets there in the wee hours of the morning, he realises that the hospital is about to close down for good. Panicked, Max searches for Patricia and finds her with a few other nurses wrapping up the farewell party. Reeling from the discovery that Patricia is heavily pregnant, Max wants to know who the father is, but first he has a life to save!
Instead of questioning Patricia, he asks her to organise emergency surgery as the Duke’s life hangs in the balance.
Imagining the Duke is safe, Max is unaware of the danger they’re in: Benuso and his killers know of his hideout and are now after their lives as well…
