    • Synopsis
    • Set in the Colombian countryside of 1948, political violence ravages the land. Right wing murder groups – sanctioned by the government scour the country.
In the South at the rural village of Tolima, one such gang brutally kill several left-wing farmers, among them the husband of Rosalba Velasco.
Eyewitness to the massacre, Rosalbo Velasco – the mother of a two year old – swears bloody revenge on the system that left her a widow and her child fatherless.
Over the next decade she becomes a cold-hearted instrument of vengeance and cruel death. Her trail is littered with the corpses of police and civilians. As Public Enemy Number One she is the top of the right wing government’s kill list.
Initially a loner, she is eventually recruited by the organised left-wing resistance fighters who curb her excesses and bring her into their fold.
The young woman soon stands out for her courageous actions and quickly gains the respect of the mainly male guerrilla bands.
No longer Rosalbo Velasco, the legend that is “Sergeant Matacho” is born. But amongst the blood “Matacho” is still a woman.
Although emotionally disturbed by the murder of her husband and her own subsequent bloody vengeance she still enjoys fleeting moments of tenderness and gives birth to a number of children as her campaign continues.
She eventually finds love in the arms of “Desquite” another hero of the resistance. But it cannot last. About to give birth, she is finally surrounded and outgunned by the Colmbian Army and her career and life end in a hail of gunfire.
