- Photographer Lu Rile (Thomasin McKenzie) is determined to make a name for herself in the ultra-competitive world of fine art, undeterred even when a recent tragedy drives her to a run-down artists' loft in New York City where she befriends her neighbor, Katherine (Zoë Kravitz). Alone with her anguish and completely broke, Lu makes herself the subject of her work—every day, when the light is just right, she leaps into the air and contorts her body as the shutter releases, creating a series of intimate self-portraits.
  
  When Katherine suffers her own tragic loss, Lu inadvertently captures the incident on film. The image is captivating – sublime yet horrifying – and undeniably the best thing she’s ever created. As Lu and Katherine bond over their shared grief, the pain of loss becomes an ever-present specter in their lives, haunting their every step and forcing them to confront the chilling truth that they are not merely haunted by their pasts but relentlessly pursued by a malevolent force hellbent on destroying their fragile reality.
