    • Synopsis
    • 24-year-old Mia stands on a mountaintop on a cold winter morning; the sole human figure in a panorama of Himalayan snow peaks. She tears up a file of medical papers and lets them fly away; her senses numb, her eyes dead...
Last month, Mia underwent an illicit abortion in her home town, New Delhi. Riddled with pain and guilt, she bolts to the only place she knows she’ll find peace; her family summer home in the high mountains.
The British colonial era house, tucked away amongst pine forests, is in the care of 40-year-old Raju. He tends to Mia with the loyalty and dedication of an old domestic hand.
But Mia is desolate and detached. Long solo walks in scenic surroundings give her some respite. Another strange release Mia practices is dancing. Her form is unconventional but skilled, embodying strong emotions. The rest of the time Mia spends hunkered like a deprived addict over her social media accounts on her network-less smartphone.
Things turn when Raju has to leave on an unavoidable errand. He leaves Mia in the care of his 70- year-old mother in law, Bimal, alongside his 8-year-old son Sunny.
The lines that wrinkle Bimal’s face and the slouch over her shoulders don’t fool anyone. She works through this bitter season in the orchard, cowshed and kitchen from dawn to dusk with ease. Bimal takes on the added workload with aplomb, ever smiling and cracking jokes, baffling and somewhat enchanting Mia.
Sunny on the other hand, eyes Mia as an interesting stranger and potential play buddy. Rosy-cheeked and wide-eyed, his games involve a mix of objects he can find in the garden and fantasies from his imagination. Sunny deftly tricks Mia into the innocence of a childhood she had long forgotten.
As walls begin to chisel away, unlikely but heartfelt friendships are formed. Mia uncovers the heartbreaking story of the untimely demise of Sunny’s mother, Bimal’s daughter... connecting with the pain and loss on a personal level. Mia now finds herself reaching out beyond her means to help, surprising even herself!
And just like that, 3 highly different souls bind themselves together as a stark and stunning winter sets into the small Himalayan village.
But Mia can’t run away forever...
25-year-old Kabir, Mia’s erstwhile boyfriend and the father of her aborted child, decides to finally show up for the girlfriend he abandoned. Seeing him unexpectedly plummets Mia back into the heart of her trauma. And looking at the monster in the cave square in the eye, Mia finally faces the fact that her problem is far bigger than she had imagined...
While her new friendships with Bimal and Sunny have helped her heal, the final step has to be taken on her own.
Mia gathers the courage to break out of peer and parental pressures to pursue her true passion- dance; to say goodbye to the love and the love child that weren’t meant to be; and return to the city to give her life a ‘Second Chance’.
