    • Synopsis
    • Samir aka DJ Skaarab (Karim Kassem) has just won the local DJ Championships in Egypt. He gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate at the “Drop Beats” event in Brussels. But Samir’s flight is redirected to the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and he takes a replacement bus to his destination. While trying to call his girlfriend, Samir loses all of his belongings and gets caught in a case of mistaken identity: Local border police believes that Samir is an illegal immigrant. Stuck in this new territory, he is forced to be taken care of by Daniel (Eric Kabongo), a charming hustler, who drags Samir into some crazy, over-the-top situations. In the meantime, hell breaks loose in his home country and Samir desperately tries find a way out of this country he’s never heard before, feeling trapped in an endless loop of trials and tribulations. SAWAH is the second feature film by Luxembourg filmmaker Adolf El Assal (The Notorious Guys). The screenplay is co-written by renown Canadian writer Dennis Foon (Indian Horse, Life, Above All). It's a unique dramatic comedy that deals with issues such as identity, travelling and the recent refugee crisis.
