- In 1638, the Shimabara Revolt arose as the farmers’ last show of resistance against the Tokugawa Shogunate’s Christians suppression. The Shogunate was afraid of the rebel leader, Shiro Amakusa, a user of black magic, and sent 120,000 troops to quell the 37,000 farmers. After occupying the castle for 100 days, the rioters were annihilated and beheaded.
  
  After a decade and several years, the third Shogun, Iemitsu, governs the country. During this peaceful age, the Kishu feudal lord, Yorinobu Tokugawa, Iemitsu’s uncle who is coveting the Shogunate position, complains about the difficulty of achieving his goal.
  On a day of hunting by hawk, Shiro Amakusa appears in front of Yorinobu. Shiro, supposedly slain in the Shimabara revolt, says he will let Yorinobu take over the Shogunate. Shiro then demonstrates his black magic to a doubtful Yorinobu. In a mountain cave there is an altar on which a naked woman is bound with a cross-shaped birthmark across her chest. With Shiro’s prayer, a red line appears on the center of her body and it splits. From it, a hero of the Yagyu School, Mataemon Araki appears. He is resurrected once more into this world. Shiro’s follower, Clara Oshina says, “Regret, the feeling of regret allows resurrection to happen in this world”. After that Yorinobu becomes a partner of Shiro in order to achieve his own aims.
  
  The Yagyu people suspect the Kishu feudal clan’s actions and secretly investigate him. They discover a horrifying plan and Jubei Yagyu starts taking action. Resurrected swordsmen wait for Jubei who goes to rescue a girl of the Kishu feudal clan; the resurrected samurais are Mataemon Araki, Inshun Hozoin, Musashi Miyamoto and even Tajimanokami Yagyu, father of Jubei, who joins them. Shiro is active behind the scenes to make Jubei one of the resurrected. And Jubei, who is fighting with the swordsmen in hell, starts realizing his own way of the sword and is about to have a daring confrontation with Shiro.
