    • Based on an original story by Milton Hatoum, one of Brazil’s most prominent contemporary writers receiving Brazil’s most prestigious literary award, the Jabuti Prize, three times for best novel, RIVER OF DESIRE tells the captivating tale of three brothers who end up living under the same roof with the middle brother’s beautiful new wife. Anaira is sensual, playful, beguiling, and happy to be working on her husband Dalberto’s newly acquired river boat. But when her husband is obliged to take a mysterious passenger up the Amazon from Brazil all the way to Peru, a trip of several weeks, the young woman feels abandoned and becomes despondent, seeking comfort in the company Dalberto’s two brothers. When Dalberto finally returns home, he finds himself in a complex situation of passion and deceit.
