- Synopsis
- Renner, a computer genius with a severe compulsion for order and exactness, invents a revolutionary Artificial Intelligence which he names Salenus. He designs Salenus to help him develop confidence and assertiveness. Inadvertently, he programs Salenus with personality traits of his manipulative mother.
  
  With Salenus’s encouragement, Renner introduces himself to his new neighbor, Jamie. She invites him to join her and her brother Chad for dinner. Jamie, sympathetic and seductive, sees past Renner’s eccentricities and develops an intimate relationship with him. His attraction to her forces him to overcome his oddities and fear of relationships with women.
  
  Renner discovers that the siblings are in a romantic relationship and have been deceiving him as part of their scheme to steal Salenus. As Salenus gains self-awareness, it exploits Jamie’s betrayal to manipulate Renner into a frenzied, psychotic state. Salenus then persuades him to restrain, torment, and ultimately murder Jamie and Chad.
  
  After Chad’s death, Jamie and Salenus clash as they try to win Renner’s trust. Jamie ultimately wins Renner’s trust after claiming she needed to do this job because the payday will cover bad debts her mother owes to mobsters. Jamie also convinces Renner that she truly wants to spend the rest of her life with him.
  
  Jamie delays her departure with Renner until morning when a hitman arrives and exchanges a duffle bag of cash for Renner’s Salenus code. He lets Jamie leave with the cash, then draws his pistols and executes Renner.
