    • Synopsis

    • This film is a controversial social drama and yet a psychological story of profound personality re-evaluation. The themes of loneliness, violence and struggle, and decisions that must be made under the pressure of society get exposed with all frankness.

The film is deeply symbolic. The lead character’s name is “Anar”, which means “pomegranate”. This fruit is imprinted in the cultures of many nations as a symbol of life and matrimony. The pomegranate in ancient Greek mythology is an attribute of Demeter, the goddess of rebirth and fertility, while in Islam it is the fruit which grows in paradise, and is considered to be a symbol of moral purification.
