A modern adaptation of the classic novel Christ Recrucified by Nikos Kazantzakis, the film is a postmodern allegory of the Passion of Christ, as seen through the prism of an antihero turned hero. Through a mosaic of themes relating to submission, free will, hypocrisy and the different manifestations of faith, the film investigates human willingness to sacrifice for the sake of others. Or lack thereof. The film is being developed as a trilateral co-production between Greece, Italy and Cyprus, with the support of the European Co-Development fund by Creative Europe (MEDIA), and has been pre-approved for production support from the Greek Film Centre.
