- Tanita is the leading maker of health scales that marketed the world’s first body fat scale, making rapid progress under the competent but autocratic president Unosuke Tanita. But Tanita’s employees, including Unosuke’s son and vice-president Konosuke, are mostly overweight and the feedback from test users isn’t favorable. One day, Unosuke is suddenly hospitalized and Konosuke becomes responsible for the planning of an important new product launch. Finding himself in a tight spot, Konosuke suggests a dieting campaign that tracks the weight-loss process of company employees. He hires Nanako, a formerly overweight classmate from high school who is now a nutritionist, and together with three employees with over 40% body fat, they begin a major weight-loss project. The company cafeteria is renewed to serve only healthy set menus, but dieting isn’t easy. One problem after another arise as the overweight employees complain, give up, double-cross each other and lose self-control. Though bemused, Nanako makes every effort to help them stay optimistic. Will Konosuke and the others reach their weight-loss goals? And what will happen to the new product launch?
