"Rave. 140 beats per minute” tells the story of the evolution of techno music and “rave” culture in Poland, juxtaposing two moments: the 90s and the present day. Relating the first Polish techno generation from the 90s to the last one from the 2000s. It will also be a film-portrait of the youngest generation of Poles. We want to tell the story of techno music by combining two perspectives: historical and contemporary. In the historical layer, we will talk about the close connection of this music with the history of the Polish transformation of the 1990s. It is obvious that techno appeared in Poland along with the transformation and expressed its spirit on many levels. We will tell you about the most important environments from different social classes: about techno in Łódź and the Ekwador club in Manieczki. However, we will talk about the music and culture of the 1990s from the perspective of its children, i.e. the generation that was born in the nascent capitalism of the 1990s, i.e. the source of the reality in which they later lived and developed. Among these young people there is a constant fascination and fashion for the 90s, but also a critical awareness of the naivety and utopia of the first techno generation in Poland.
