- RACE tells the true story of Jesse Owens and his historic victories during the controversial Berlin Olympics of 1936 - the infamous “Nazi Games” - where the young black American sprinter singlehandedly humiliated Hitler and prevented him from using the games to glorify the Third Reich.
  In 1934, during the height of the Jim Crow segregation laws, promising high school athlete Jesse Owens arrives at Ohio State University with dreams of competing at the international level. There the dirt-poor grandson of a slave forms an unlikely friendship with his white coach Larry Snyder - a former track and field competitor himself, whose own dreams of Olympic glory were taken from him in an accident. Larry is an innovative coach and entirely colorblind - although he will come to learn from his pupil that it’s easy to be without prejudice from his side of the racial divide. Together they share a single goal: to win a gold medal at the Berlin Olympics.
  Their hopes are in jeopardy when a boycott movement threatens to derail the games before they’ve begun. Only the nefarious back room dealing of American Olympic Committee president Avery Brundage - who strikes a deal with Nazi Olympic mastermind Josef Goebbels - ensures the games will be held in Berlin. But Goebbels has his own battles to fight at home - with Leni Riefenstahl, the beautiful and talented young director whose proposed film of the event will determine how history remembers the 1936 Olympics - as a triumph of Hitler’s own will, or as a crushing indictment of his policies of racial hatred.
  These stories collide and reach their stunning conclusion in the heart of Nazi Berlin, where Jesse’s record-breaking victories on the athletics field prove that friendship can transcend hatred, and one man can overcome prejudice and outrun Hitler himself...
