    • Synopsis
    • Our need to fit the standards dictated by our society - so we can be loved and accepted - creates an abyss between who we really are and who we become.
Cris Saur was bullied in school for being taller and skinnier than the rest of the girls. Later in life, she became a model for the exact same features. As a model, the pressure for the ‘perfect look’ tainted her self-perception and made her feel constantly insecure. Her distorted ideas of her role as a woman in our society topped with her lack of self-assurance led Cris to fall for a predator. And only after being physically abused by him she realized how damaged her self-esteem was. All the abuse, followed by depression and panic attacks were the catalyst of her quest for beauty.
Out of fear, Cris Saur left on a journey of self-discovery and self-love. Cris traveled the world - Brazil, US, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, Japan, Russia, UK, Greece, Austria, France and Peru - and more importantly, within herself. In her search to understand beauty in a more meaningful manner, she met with a yogi, a philosopher, a mathematician, a fashion designer, a therapist, a top model, artists and even a visually impaired woman who senses beauty and a deeply abused wife whose scars are permanent in her face, but long forgotten in her heart and mind.
Each one of the places and encounters were small pieces of a big puzzle being mounted, one that was taking shape and form but still missed the most important piece: self-love. In the Amazonian jungle, Cris partakes in an Ayahuasca ceremony. During the 10 days she spent with local indigenous people Cris learned how to peel off the layers society imposes on us and finally find essence. Once she learned how to accept and forgive herself, she learned how to fully love herself. From this place of unconditional love she was finally able to see her true beauty, the beauty that was always there, waiting to be awakened.
