    • Synopsis
    • PUMPAS XV, is the first Argentine rugby team "Mixed Ability", a discipline that allows people with intellectual disabilities to be included in the world of high performance sports. The story is told through the life of Daniel Fernandez (50) alma mater de Pumpas with his son Joaquín (16) and two referents of the squad, the captain and soul of the team Martin Perego (33) and the endearing Santiago Albornoz ( 30) who is nicknamed "the bear".
Each story shows that the disability of these people is not limiting in their development and that they can live a full life like any other person. The Pumpas are born from the hand of Daniel Fernández (50) a Physical Education Teacher who, motivated by his son with Down syndrome Joaquín (16), sought a way to allow different people with intellectual disabilities to enjoy the sport and use this as means of development and inclusion. Daniel has an important objective and makes it known to his referents; wants to create the first Argentine team of Mixed Ability Rugby and be able to represent Argentina in the World Cup of the specialty to be developed in the city and Vitoria Gasteiz - Spain. The task is not easy and a long road must be traveled to achieve this, making the team known and obtaining the necessary resources to consolidate as a team and as a group. Meanwhile we know the life of the referents of the squad.
During the Pumpas tour the team takes an unexpected dimension. All local media echo the news and begin to follow the boys' dream of representing Argentina in the World Cup. Events are organized in different clubs with the presence of journalists and Argentine rugby figures who come together to support the campaign of
The dream is getting closer and the participation of Pumpas in the Vitoria Gasteiz World Cup is a fact. The Pumpas travel to Spain to represent Argentina, but they never imagined what they would find in that experience.
If people with disabilities can play rugby they can do what they want, it is only a matter of time.
